Today's showcase is from @wildmooncrystals, with their AMAZING citrine point, showing some amazing, completely natural, colour! 😅 Fact of the Day about citrine - it is my personal favourite variety of quartz (and my favourite mineral in general 😜) and most of the specimens you see on sale are fakes! They're heat-treated amethysts, which turn a bright orange. -@british_geologist, featuring the most beautiful geology photos on Instagram! -ONE OF MY OWN-Mangano calcite is a beautiful pink version of calcite that belongs to the carbonates mineral class and exhibits a trigonal crystal system and a hardness of 2.5 to 3 on the Mohs scale. It is commonly found in 🇧🇷, 🇵🇪, 🇧🇪, 🇬🇧 (woop woop! 😄), 🇨🇿, 🇸🇰, 🇮🇸, 🇷🇴(where this specimen of mine was bought) and 🇺🇸. It has a chemical formula of CaCO3, but with large amounts of Manganese impurities, giving it the pink colour. #silicondioxide
