Had to try this amazingness after seeing it pop up in @paleochef ’s feed more than once. Situated right next to the Dunkies where more than one of the @hamiltonmusicalcast members were spotted prior to the actual show (unbeknownst to me at the time). Hard not to spot @emmyraverwith her #hairgoals‘do as she breezed in before the show, and I aaaaalmost said something to her, but chickened out. Anyway, this matcha freeze with shredded coconut, chocolate, and almond butter made me all giddy inside. And in case your we’re wondering, the performance was nothing short of spectacular! Worth every penny! #theroomwhereithappens#putwomeninthesequel#hamilton#preshowsnacks#la#hollywood
I first learned about @gabunion ’s upcoming book, because we’re both struggling with #infertility . My husband initially sent me an article, then a week later, my friend @dangeresqpre-ordered it for me out of the blue (thanks, mama!) We both have a shared love for Gabrielle Union in Bring it On. Come on, you know you love it too. #isaidbrritscoldinhere#theremustbesomecloversintheatmosphere•Her infertility journey may have initially piqued my interest, but from the very beginning of the book, I can relate so much. Like, right off the bat. She moved to Pleasanton after time in SF, I was born in SF and moved to Los Gatos. Motivations behind moving, social dynamics, etc., it brought back all my memories and all the feels. But more than that, her narrative reads like you’re sitting down with a friend. She says things like, “farting around in the park,” () making me believe that we’d be friends #irl . Obviously. ️️•On the off-chance she reads this (remember, we’re friends now 🤣), thank you so much for sharing your story and letting your voice be heard. It helps more than you may realize! #weregonnaneedmorewine
Yesterday, I was officially sworn in as a Commissioner to the Salary Setting Commission with the City of San Diego. I was sworn in by our awesome City Clerk, Elizabeth Maland, and I’m incredibly proud of my work to become more involved in my local government. Because, #civics . ️•When it came time to elect a president and vice-president of the commission, we were asked if anybody wanted to move to either nominate someone else or themselves. At first, nobody spoke up. The majority of the commission consists of older, way more experienced people, and my first thought was, “don’t look greedy/bossy by nominating yourself. There are better people more qualified than you.” So, in typical societally-trained woman fashion, I listened to that inner critical voice and didn’t speak up. I snapped out of it and started to nominate myself, but hesitated just long enough for someone else to be nominated and confirmed as president.•When the time came to pick the VP, I decided that I had ideas and drive for this commission. I was appointed the same as everybody else. This time, I didn’t hesitate, spoke up, threw my hat into the ring, and guess what? #vicepresident , right here ️•I’m not saying this, because I’m insinuating all women are afraid to speak up and stand in their power, but because women - even self-professed strong women like me - still hesitate, still question their proven abilities, and still let their inner “critical parent” get the better of them. Not speaking up, failing to take chances, and being scared of throwing your hat into the ring does nothing except prevent you from creating opportunities for yourself.•And hey, at the end of the meeting, the president came up to me and told me how excited she was to have me as the VP, because I clearly “know my stuff.” #strongwomen#strongminds
Visiting New Orleans for the first time is a little like stepping into the most delicious amalgamation of people, sounds, tastes, and sights. Caught these guys performing an awesome set on Bourbon St. before making a quick pit stop at @preservationhallto buy tickets for tomorrow’s show. Made our way into the oldest piano bar in America, where I grabbed a French 75 (my new favorite drink) before cruising over to a riverboat dinner cruise for more jazz and eats. Love this place! #frenchquarter#neworleans#nickstengoestonola#justyouraveragemonday
